Dragon's Dogma 2:Fighter

Dragon's Dogma 2 Fighter Vocation.webp

With a sword in one hand and a shield in the other, the Fighter is a fortress on the battlefield. This Vocation is at the heart of melee combat, capable of slicing through enemy lines and delivering devastating blows. Their shield is not just for defense, it's an instrument of protection for themselves and their allies. Fighters are the bulwark against the chaos of battle, drawing enemies' attention and absorbing damage to keep their comrades safe. They specialize in close-quarters combat, using their tactical acumen to engage foes directly and protect their party from harm.

Fighter Build Guide

Welcome to the step by step beginners guide to the Fighter Build and Pawn Fighter Build in Dragon's Dogma 2. This guide covers the best weapons, Armor sets, and rings to get early and upgrade as you progress.

Best Fighter Weapons, Rings and Armor

Below you can find a list of the best Fighter armor sets, weapons and rings to obtain.

Early Game Equipment:

Best Pawn Fighter Skills

The Pawn Fighter build functions primely as a utility tank. Their skills enable them to assist other players in reaching out of reach treasure, dealing with flying enemies, knocking down foes and grabbing the attention of enemies in battle.

  • Airward Slash: Performs a jump while slashing diagonally upward. An effective means of assailing flying targets (Upgrade to Cloudward Slash).
  • Shield Summons: Raps the shield loudly to attract the attention of nearby targets (Upgrade to Shield Drums).
  • Springboard: Launches allies into the air using the shield (Upgrade to Launchboard).
  • Shield Bash: Delivers a powerful blow with the shield that can knock target off balance (Upgrade to Shield Pummel). This skill can also be swapped out for others.

While some of the other skills are useful the AI does struggle to use the skills in an efficient way, this can lead to them waiting stamina to deal damage when they are far more effective when using it to agro and block attacks.

Best Player Fighter Skills

If you are playing a Fighter, it can be played as an effective off-tank damage build by using the skills listed below.

  • Airward Slash: Performs a jump while slashing diagonally upward. An effective means of assailing flying targets (Upgrade to Cloudward Slash).
  • Shield Bash: Delivers a powerful blow with the shield that can knock target off balance (Upgrade to Shield Pummel). This skill can also be swapped out for others.
  • Gouging Skewer: Thrusts the blade into the target's body before raining further blows upon them. If strikes connect, the user clings to larger targets and pins down smaller targets that are flinching (Upgrades into Gutting Skewer). If used after Shield bash you can knock enemies down before hitting their weak spot to finish them off.
  • Secret Skill - Riotous Fury: Rains a flurry of powerful blows on the target, dealing massive damage at great cost to Stamina. Leaves the user vulnerable if the first strike misses.

It's possible to defend your party manually instead of using Shield Summons, unless your struggling to maintain agro against certain bosses. Some skills such as Counter Slash/Vengeful Slash can be swapped out to counter attack bosses and stagger them quickly. The area of effect abilities such as Full Moon Slash or the more defensive Impeccable Guard can be used to counter multiple enemies.

Best Fighter Augments

Augments play a crucial role in enhancing your Fighter's ability to tank damage and defend other party members. You can unlock Augments by levelling other Vocations and then combining the best Augments for your Fighter build.

  • Mettle: Augments your physical defense by 30%.
  • Provocation: Increases the likelihood of being targeted by foes.
  • Endurance: Increases your maximum Stamina.
  • Exaltation: Augments your Stamina recovery speed.
  • Constancy: Augments your Knockdown Resistance.
  • If you are playing as a Fighter (instead of your Pawn), replace Provocation with Detection: Reduces Stamina consumed while dashing.
