The Blade of Woe is a unique that belongs to Astrid the leader of the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim. The Blade of Woe is the best dagger in Skyrim since it has a higher base damage than a Daedric Dagger and less weight than the Dragonbone Dagger. It's possible to get multiple copies of the Blade of Woe as early as level 1.
Weapon Enchantment
The Blade of Woe's weapon enchantment absorbs 10 points of health with each hit, since daggers have a fast attack speed of 1.3 it can help sustain the Dragonborn during combat. This also gives the weapon a total base damage of 22, with the enchantment effect ignoring the enemies armor.

How to Get The Blade of Woe Guide
Where to find the Blade Of Woe Location
You can find multiple copies of the Blade of Woe despite it being a unique weapon.
- You can get the Blade of Woe when you meet Astrid as early as level 1, during or after the Dark Brotherhood quest With Friends Like These. You can either pickpocket the blade of woe by using the Misdirection perk, Or a high level weapon disarm Shout can be used on Astrid forcing her to drop the weapon so you can pick it up. If you obtain the Blade of Woe early using either method you will then obtain a second Blade of Woe at the end of the quest Death Incarnate.
- The normal method of obtaining The Blade of Woe is to complete the Dark Brotherhood quest Death Incarnate. After the quest Astrid will reward you with the Blade of Woe.
Gameplay Tips
- The Blade of Woe is the best dagger you can get early in Skyrim. It used to be the best dagger in the game but the Creation Club added two daggers which are stronger: Fang of Haynekhtnamet and the Madness Dagger. Both daggers have a base damage of 13 instead of 12 but are arguably considerably harder to obtain early compared to the Blade of Woe.
- The Blade of Woe's enchantment has a charge of 500 and a cost of 40, so you can only use it 12 times before it needs to be recharged with a Soul Gem. It is however possible to get unlimited weapon charges by equipping four items with a 25% Fortify Destruction effect for a total of 100% reduction.
- Thanks to the Blade of Woe having a small total charge capacity, it can be almost be fully charged with a petty soul gem!
Smithing Guide
Due to a bug the blade of woe can be upgraded at a grindstone without the need for any ingots. If you have the Steel Smithing Perk you can double the Blade of Woes damage improvement. Enchanted weapons require the Arcane Blacksmith Perk to upgrade.

Weapon Levels
Some weapons in Skyrim are Levelled. The power of a levelled weapon is based on your charcters level when you get them. Some get stronger in both physical and magical aspects, while others only improve their enchantments. These items don't get better as your character levels up.
The Blade of Sacrifice is not a leveled weapon.
