Choices
The peasants will not listen to a plea for mercy. Geralt can walk away and leave the deserter to his fate. The mob hangs him, and the quest ends there.
Geralt can also defend the deserter and kill the peasants. The soldier then explains that his wife has given birth and begged him to come home. He sets off for his family, and the quest pays 25 XP.
Notes
- The quest is easy to miss. Passing by without stepping in ends it.
- The quest is no longer available once A Favor for a Friend is reached.
- Letting the mob hang the deserter keeps the quest out of the journal.
