Suspicious Shakedown is a secondary quest in Novigrad. It appears once Pyres of Novigrad is done. Bandits corner a merchant in an alley and try to take his money. Geralt can step in or walk on.

Suspicious Shakedown map location:

1. Finish Pyres of Novigrad.
2. Go to the house just north of the Rosemary and Thyme.
3. Find the alley almost directly north of the Gate of the Hierarch signpost.
4. Open the door to find the bandits harassing a merchant.
5. Talk to the bandits.
6. Choose to protect the merchant.
7. Threaten the bandits and fight them, or use Axii to send them away.
8. Watch the merchant thank Geralt and head home.

Choices

The bandits tell Geralt to leave. If he answers "At least I tried", he walks away. The bandits take the merchant's money and let him go. Later the merchant refuses to do business with Geralt.

If Geralt protects the merchant, he can threaten the bandits or use Axii. Threats lead to a fight. Axii earns 30 XP. Either way, the merchant thanks Geralt. He is glad to see the witcher at his shop in Silverton afterwards.
