Tavar Eggebracht is the quartermaster of the Nilfgaardian Army Group Center camp in Velen. He comes from a family with a long military tradition. Geralt meets him at the camp during the quest Blood Ties.

Tavar's ancestors served proudly under the Golden Sun banner in the conquests of Maecht, Geso and Metinna. They fought and died for their emperor. His cousin, Colonel Tibor Eggebracht, met that fate in the Battle of Brenna during the last Northern War. Still, Tavar bears no hatred for the Northerners. He sees his cousin's death as a painful but unavoidable part of war.

Tavar does his work as quartermaster with care. The good of his soldiers comes first for him.

In Blood Ties, a noblewoman at the camp asks Geralt to learn what happened to her son, Hrodeberth. The other soldiers will not tell her. She sends Geralt to the quartermaster. Tavar reveals that the young man's group tried to desert. The soldiers who were caught were hanged, and the rest fled into the nearby swamps. Tavar does not know whether Hrodeberth was among the hanged.
