Dragonsplague

Dragonsplague is an illness that strikes only pawns. Pawns catch it as they travel between worlds and pass it from one to another. Left unchecked, it ends in disaster: an infected pawn can turn into a dragon and slaughter the people of a whole town while the Arisen sleeps.

Symptoms

The clearest sign is a red glow in the pawn's eyes. An infected pawn also starts to ignore the Arisen's commands and speaks with unusual boldness. It may clutch its head as if in pain. In battle it fights more fiercely than before. The first infection brings up a tutorial message about the illness. Photo Mode helps when checking a pawn's eyes up close.

Terminal Stage

When the illness reaches its final stage, resting at an inn or at the Arisen's home triggers the calamity. The infected pawn turns into a dragon during the night, and by morning the townsfolk are dead. Many of the dead return on their own after some days. Others can be brought back with a Wakestone at the Vermund Charnel House or the Battahl Morgue, and an Eternal Wakestone revives many at once. In Casual Mode, pawns recover from dragonsplague without any calamity, even at the terminal stage.

Cures

Dismissing an infected support pawn removes the illness from the party. A Dragonsbaulk Draught cures an infected pawn outright. A main pawn also recovers after becoming forfeit, for example by being thrown into deep water, and then being summoned again at a riftstone. The illness leaves a pawn once it passes to another, so an infected main pawn can rest alongside healthy hired pawns until one of them catches it. That hired pawn can then be dismissed.
