Category:Dragon's Dogma 2 - Vocations

In Dragon's Dogma 2 your character's class is known as a Vocation. There are 10 Vocations to choose from, but some must be unlocked during gameplay. The 10 Vocations are split into three separate categories: Basic Starter Vocations, Advanced, and Hybrid.

At the start of the game you can choose from four base Vocations for your main character and Pawn Companion, then evolve it into an Advanced Vocation. Only your character can access Hybrid Vocations.

The Vocation you pick affects what weapons and skills your character, called the Arisen, or their companions, known as Pawns, can use. It also influences how their abilities grow when they level up. You can change your characters Vocation later.

Fighter

With a sword in one hand and a shield in the other, the Fighter is a fortress on the battlefield. This Vocation is at the heart of melee combat, capable of slicing through enemy lines and delivering devastating blows. Their shield is not just for defense, it's an instrument of protection for themselves and their allies. Fighters are the bulwark against the chaos of battle, drawing enemies' attention and absorbing damage to keep their comrades safe. They specialize in close-quarters combat, using their tactical acumen to engage foes directly and protect their party from harm.

Archer

Archers are the eyes of the party, delivering precise shots from a distance with their trusty bow and arrow. They thrive in picking off targets from afar, including those out of reach for others. An Archer's ability to exploit enemy weaknesses from a distance makes them invaluable, providing critical support by softening targets or creating opportunities for their allies to exploit. This Vocation is perfect for players who prefer a calculated, strategic approach to combat, offering support from the sidelines while staying out of direct harm.

All Advanced Vocations

There are two Advanced Vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2, the Warrior and Sorcerer.

These vocations must be unlocked by helping the vocation maisters. Once you have gained their approval, you can gain access to their vocation, or they may grant you special tomes that teach skills of the highest order, the “maister's teachings”.

Warrior

Dragon's Dogma 2 Warrior Vocation.webp

The Warrior class stands out as the epitome of brute force and raw power. These formidable combatants are characterized by their impressive physical stature and unparalleled endurance, enabling them to withstand the onslaught of enemy attacks with ease. Unlike their Fighter counterparts, Warriors eschew the protection of a shield, instead donning heavy armor that, combined with their robust constitution, provides them with the resilience needed to survive the thick of battle.

Warriors excel in wielding two-handed weapons, with the greatsword and hammer being their instruments of destruction. Their combat style is centered around charging their attacks to unleash singular, devastating strikes that can turn the tide of any confrontation. This ability to deliver powerful blows makes them one of the most fearsome vocations on the battlefield.

Moreover, the Warrior class is not just about sheer power. They possess unique skills that enable them to attack multiple adversaries with a single weapon swing, thereby offering a blend of offensive might and crowd control. This versatility is further enhanced by abilities such as the Barge, a quick shoulder bash that can interrupt and potentially stun opponents, setting them up for a crushing follow-up attack. Warriors also benefit from a passive skill that rewards precise timing with faster swings, adding a layer of skill and rhythm to their otherwise brute-force approach.

Despite their slower movements compared to other vocations, Warriors compensate with their ability to deliver the most destructive melee attacks in the game. This makes them an essential component of any party, capable of dealing significant damage and controlling the battlefield with their wide-reaching, powerful strikes.

Sorcerer

Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer Vocation.webp

For those who prefer the mastery of arcane forces over physical might, the Sorcerer class in Dragon's Dogma 2 offers a path of unparalleled magical power. Sorcerers are specialists in ranged magical attacks, wielding large staves to channel their potent spells. They stand apart from their Mage counterparts by their ability to cast area-of-effect spells that can decimate multiple enemies, showcasing their role as the game's premier spellcasters.

The art of sorcery is not without its challenges, however. Casting spells as a Sorcerer requires both hands, meaning that these spells take time to charge and cast. This necessitates a strategic approach to combat, where positioning and timing are crucial. Sorcerers must find safe vantage points from which to unleash their spells, ensuring they are well out of reach of enemy attacks. The risk of being interrupted mid-cast by an enemy strike adds a layer of vulnerability, making it vital for Sorcerers to be both cautious and cunning on the battlefield.

Despite these challenges, mastering the Sorcerer class can be immensely rewarding. The sheer power of their spells can change the course of battle, making them indispensable allies. With careful planning and strategic positioning, Sorcerers can unleash devastating magical attacks that not only inflict massive damage but also support their team from a distance.

Both the Warrior and Sorcerer classes in Dragon's Dogma 2 offer distinct playstyles that cater to different types of gamers. Whether you prefer the adrenaline-fueled thrill of close-quarters combat or the strategic depth of spellcasting, these classes provide rich, fulfilling experiences that are integral to the game's diverse and engaging combat system.
