Bart is a troll who guards Sigismund Dijkstra's treasure in Novigrad. He lives in the secret vault beneath Dijkstra's bathhouse. Geralt meets him in the quest Count Reuven's Treasure and faces him again in Blindingly Obvious.
Lore
Bart fits a craze that swept through the wealthy of Novigrad, from bankers and traders to crime bosses. They all wanted guards who were fiercely loyal, huge, tireless and crushingly strong. A sharp mind was seen as useless, or even harmful, in a guard. A good watchman had to be too simple to ever think of betraying his master. That is why trolls, ogres and magical crossbreeds were so highly prized for the job.
Story
In Count Reuven's Treasure, Dijkstra leads Geralt down to his vault, where Bart stands guard. The vault should be full of gold, but thieves have blown a hole through the wall and taken everything. Bart tells Geralt what he knows about the break-in. He heard something that sounded like hissing rocks.
In Blindingly Obvious, Philippa Eilhart escapes from the bathhouse through the vault. She puts Bart under a spell so that he blocks anyone who follows her. Geralt's words decide Bart's fate. If Geralt says that he wants to help Philippa, the troll lets him pass. If Geralt demands that Bart step aside, they fight and Bart dies.
Relationships
Bart is loyal to Dijkstra, the master whose treasure he guards.
