The Harpy is a Hybrid and a cousin of the Shishiga. Harpies nest on high cliffs and in rocky ravines, and flocks of them live in Velen.
Lore
The witcher Letho of the Viper School once noted that most monsters keep no treasure in their lairs. Harpies are the exception. They love shiny things.
It is hard to say what is most repulsive about harpies and shishigas. It might be their hideous looks. It might be the stink of rot and bird droppings that clings to them. It might be their bloodcurdling screech. Even rats, which live happily among the worst filth, stay well away from their nests.
Behaviour
A harpy nest usually sits on top of a high cliff or in a rocky ravine. The signs of one are easy to spot. Crumbling human and animal remains lie around it. The rocks are streaked with droppings, and feathers litter the ground.
Harpies hunt in flocks of a handful up to twenty birds. They are cowardly and careful by nature. Still, they defend their nests fiercely, and they attack without hesitation when they outnumber their foe.
Weaknesses
Coat the silver sword with Hybrid Oil. Keep the Aard Sign and Grapeshot bombs ready.
Harpies use their wings to dive at their victims and strike them one by one. Then they soar back up out of reach. They kill with their wings, their sharp beaks and their talons. A single harpy is weak and easy to kill. The danger is the flock. While two or three fight in front, others swoop in from the sides and from behind.
Knock them out of the air with Aard. On the ground, a harpy moves slowly and clumsily. It is no longer much of a threat, and a few quick strikes finish it.

Harpies guard a nest in Ladies of the Wood, a main quest in Crookback Bog in Velen. Johnny, a strange young creature of the bog, has lost his voice. He leads the way to a nest that holds a sealed bottle with his voice inside. After the harpies are dealt with, the bottle goes back to Johnny. With his voice restored, he shares what he knows about Ciri.
