Diagrams
A diagram is a crafting recipe for a weapon, a piece of armor or an upgrade. Every crafted sword and every crafted armor piece needs one. Reading a diagram teaches the recipe. A blacksmith or an armorer then makes the item from the components it lists.
Diagram Types
- Weapon diagrams cover steel swords, silver swords, crossbows and bolts.
- Armor diagrams cover chest armor, gauntlets, trousers and boots.
- Runestone diagrams make weapon upgrades.
- Glyph diagrams make armor upgrades.
Requirements
Each diagram lists its crafting components and the craftsman it needs. Blacksmiths make weapons from diagrams, and armorers make armor. The craftsman levels are Amateur, Journeyman, Master and Grandmaster. The craftsman also charges crowns for each job.
Acquisition
Most diagrams turn up at random in chests around the world. Merchants and craftsmen sell many others. A few diagrams are known from the start of the game. Witcher gear diagrams come from Scavenger Hunt quests.
