Crafting
Crafting turns diagrams and crafting components into weapons, armor and upgrades. Only craftsmen do this work. Blacksmiths forge swords and crossbows, and armorers make armor. Alchemy is the other way to make things, and it needs no craftsman.
Requirements
- A diagram for the item.
- Every crafting component the diagram lists.
- A craftsman of the right trade and level.
- Crowns to pay for the job.
Craftsman Levels
Craftsmen work at four levels: Amateur, Journeyman, Master and Grandmaster. Amateur and Journeyman craftsmen are easy to find in villages and cities. Most Master craftsmen only open their forge after a quest. Mastercrafted witcher gear needs a Master. Lazare Lafargue in Hauteville is the Grandmaster. The quest Master Master Master Master! sends Geralt after the diagrams for Grandmaster witcher gear. Lazare then makes it.
Refining
Blacksmiths and armorers also refine raw materials into better components. Crafting components weigh nothing, so stockpiling them costs no carry weight.
