Missing in Action is a secondary quest in White Orchard. A villager named Dune Vildenvert has lost his brother Bastien after the last big battle against Nilfgaard. Geralt is short on time but agrees to help. The quest starts with Dune himself or with his notice on the notice board.

Missing in Action Map Location and Quest Guide

Missing in Action map location:

Take the notice from the notice board, or talk to Dune Vildenvert directly.
Find Dune beside his dog outside a ruined house in the Ransacked Village.
Agree to help him look for Bastien.
Meet Dune near the battlefield.
Kill the ghouls that roam the battlefield.
Use Witcher Senses to search for Temerian shields with small white flowers painted on them.
Inspect the burned corpse so the dog Hussar picks up Bastien's scent.
Follow the dog's trail to an abandoned cabin.
Watch the scene with Bastien and the wounded Nilfgaardian soldier Rhosyn.
Decide what happens to Rhosyn and collect the reward.

Choices

Bastien survived the battle because a Nilfgaardian deserter named Rhosyn helped him. Bastien wants Dune to take Rhosyn home with them, but Dune is unsure. Geralt makes the call.

If Geralt says it is too risky to hide a deserter, Rhosyn is left to die in the cabin. If Geralt convinces Dune to repay the favour, Rhosyn lives with Dune's family afterwards.

If Geralt finds the cabin before he meets Dune, the two soldiers ask him to fetch Dune. Dune then rescues only his brother, and Rhosyn is left behind with no chance to save him.
