Nilfgaard
Nilfgaard is the most powerful empire in the known world. It lies in the south of the Continent and grows by conquering its neighbors. Emperor Emhyr var Emreis rules it. Its armies have invaded the Northern Kingdoms, and that war runs through the whole game.
Rule
Emhyr var Emreis is Emperor of Nilfgaard and lord of Metinna, Ebbing and Gemmera, among other lands. He is known as the White Flame Dancing on the Graves of his Foes. The empire is famous for its strong army and rich economy. Northerners call Nilfgaardians the Black Ones.
Role in the Story
Emhyr is Ciri's father. He hires Geralt to find her before the Wild Hunt does. Before the invasion, Emhyr backed the witcher Letho, who murdered Northern kings to weaken the North. Nilfgaardian camps stand in White Orchard and Velen. Emhyr and King Radovid V both want Novigrad, the richest prize in the North.
