Sheala de Tancarville, written Síle de Tansarville in the game, is a powerful sorceress known as the Recluse of Kovir. She was once a proud member of the Lodge of Sorceresses. She appears in the main quest The Great Escape, as a tortured prisoner of the witch hunters.

Lore

In her day, Síle plotted, persuaded and cast spells to shape the world as she liked. She always claimed she acted only for the good of magic and mankind. Even so, the blood of many people stained her hands. Some of them were kings who stood in her way.

Síle took part in countless plots and devised many of her own. Geralt often played a part in them without knowing it. Sometimes he was her helper, sometimes her obstacle, and sometimes her victim. Their meetings were stormy at best. Geralt once saved her life, but that did not make him fond of her.

Story

Síle appears only if she survived the events of The Witcher 2. In The Great Escape, Geralt and Yennefer break into the prison of Deireadh to free Margarita Laux-Antille. They find Síle there in a cell beside her. King Radovid's witch hunters have tortured and maimed her.

The sight moves even the witcher's cold heart. Perhaps he feels pity, or perhaps respect for a beaten former enemy. Síle knows what fate awaits her if she lives, and she begs for death. Geralt can grant it himself or leave it to Yennefer. Síle is grateful for a dignified death, free from torture and shame.

Relationships

Geralt knows Síle from the past and feels no warmth for her, until he sees her suffering. Margarita Laux-Antille, her fellow member of the Lodge, shares her prison.
