The Stranger is a mysterious man who offers to help Geralt break into the Borsodi auction house in Oxenfurt. He keeps his name and past to himself. Geralt meets him in Hearts of Stone, in the main quest Open Sesame!

Story

Geralt's visit to the auction house ends badly. Horst Borsodi throws him out into the street, and Geralt learns nothing about Maximilian Borsodi's House. While Geralt is still thinking about his next step, a stranger approaches him. The man will not say who he is, where he comes from, or how he found the witcher. He only says that he can get Geralt into the auction house vault without the owner's permission. He asks to meet somewhere quieter to explain his plan.

At the herbalist's hut outside the city, the Stranger reveals his plan. He means to break into the auction house and rob it. He swears that Maximilian's House lies inside the vault. Geralt usually refuses to take part in crimes, but he sees no other choice. First, Geralt must help him gather a crew of professionals and find a way to weaken the Redanian garrison.

During the break-in, the Stranger shows his true face. He is Ewald Borsodi, Horst's brother, who disappeared years earlier. The family reunion is no joyful event. Instead of shaking hands, the brothers go straight for each other's throats.

Horst Borsodi is his brother and his bitter enemy. Geralt works with him for the heist, though he has his doubts about him from the start.
