Horst Borsodi

Horst Borsodi
Type	Character
Affiliation	Borsodi family
Location	Oxenfurt
DLC	Hearts of Stone

Horst Borsodi is the owner of the Borsodi auction house in Oxenfurt, the most famous in all the North. He is a snob and a pompous buffoon. Geralt meets him while hunting for Maximilian Borsodi's House in the Hearts of Stone quest Open Sesame!

Lore

---

Horst is the elder of the two Borsodi brothers. He cheated his younger brother, Ewald, out of his inheritance. Ewald was left to years of exile and poverty. The Borsodi family later moved their world-famous auction house to Oxenfurt.

Story

---

Olgierd von Everec asks Geralt to bring him the house of Maximilian Borsodi. Geralt gets into an auction through the help of Vimme Vivaldi, who then introduces him to Horst. Horst looks down his nose at the witcher from the first moment. When he hears what Geralt wants, he has his guards throw Geralt out and beat him.

Later, Geralt joins a stranger in a raid on the auction house. When the alarm sounds, Horst calls the city watch and locks himself inside the vault. The crew breaks in, and the stranger reveals himself as Ewald, Horst's long-missing brother. Horst offers Geralt riches and a way out if he turns on Ewald.

If Geralt stands with Horst, he does so perhaps because a pompous buffoon seems the lesser evil next to a bloodthirsty cheat. With Geralt's help, Horst defeats Ewald and then kills him. If Geralt asks only for the box, Horst keeps the will and hands over the golden casket called Maximilian's House. If Geralt demands the papers as well, Horst refuses, and Geralt kills him.

If Geralt stands with Ewald, they defeat Horst's hired muscle together. A few moments later, Ewald kills his hated brother in a cruel fashion. No one follows the once rich and mighty Horst Borsodi's coffin. No one sheds a tear over his grave.

Relationships

---

Ewald Borsodi is Horst's younger brother and bitter enemy. Their feud over the family fortune ends with one brother killing the other. Vimme Vivaldi is the banker who introduces Geralt to Horst at the auction.
