The Truth is in the Stars is a secondary quest in Velen. It starts in the village of Benek, or from a notice on the Oxenfurt notice board. A frail old man there claims he can read the future. He offers Geralt a reading in return for a small favour.

The Truth is in the Stars map location:
- Read the notice on the Oxenfurt notice board, or travel to Benek.
- Find the old sage outside his hut on the west side of the village.
- Talk to the old sage.
- Give the fortune teller something to eat.
- Agree to look for dragonsroot.
- Go to the cave on the coast southeast of the village.
- Kill the four ghouls that guard the cave.
- Find the dragonsroot with Witcher Senses.
- Take the dragonsroot back to the fortune teller.
- Listen to his prophecy to finish the quest.

Choices
Geralt can agree to fetch the dragonsroot. The old man then gives a prophecy about a swallow and a tower. The words echo Ithlinne's Prophecy, and Geralt keeps them in mind.
Geralt can also refuse to chase the root. He gets a short reading for the food alone. The reading is a letdown.
