Frosted Edges is a pair of daggers for the Thief vocation. It is a strong choice for a Thief, because its ice enchantment never fades. The blades are forged from a rare ore found in an iceberg.

The daggers are part of the best outcome of Off the Pilfered Path, Ekratt's side quest in Bakbattahl. The quest opens after Mercy Among Thieves, once Hugo sits in the gaol.

How to Get Frosted Edges

  • Finish Mercy Among Thieves, then take Off the Pilfered Path from Ekratt at the gaol in Bakbattahl.
  • Learn Hugo's story from Brefft and reach the Ancient Battleground before Hugo does.
  • Kill Lanzo, then send Hugo to the Rose Chateau Bordelrie for work to earn the daggers.

Frosted Edges Map Location and Quest Guide

Off the Pilfered Path is a side quest given by Ekratt in Bakbattahl. It unlocks once Mercy Among Thieves is complete and Hugo sits in the gaol. Killing Lanzo and offering Hugo a job is the outcome that earns the Frosted Edges.

  1. Finish Every Rose Has Its Thorn first. Help Wilhelmina, escape safely and keep her from arrest. This opens the option to offer Hugo a job later.
  2. Speak to Ekratt at the entrance of the gaol to take the quest.
  3. Talk to Hugo in his cell. When he sends the Arisen away, speak to the guard Dietrich twice.
  4. Pay Herman in the neighbouring cell if he was caught in Shadowed Prayers.
  5. Pass the time on the bench by the oxcart, then speak to Benjamin.
  6. Return to the gaol and speak to Brefft in the first cell left of the entrance, opposite Hugo. Exhaust his talk about Hugo's parents and the Ancient Battleground.
  7. Tell Hugo what Brefft said. He falls silent.
  8. Rest for a day and return to the gaol. Hugo has killed Brefft and escaped.
  9. Head straight to the Ancient Battleground to arrive before Hugo.
  10. Kill Lanzo and the Coral Snakes with him.
  11. Send Hugo to the Rose Chateau Bordelrie in Vernworth when he arrives and asks about work. He works there a few days later.

Rewards: 4,500 XP, 7,000 G, Frosted Edges and White-Leather Kerchief.

Outcomes:

  • Kill Lanzo before Hugo arrives, then offer Hugo a job: the full reward.
  • Keep Brefft's words from Hugo, bribe Ekratt on three separate days to free him, then offer him a job: the full reward.
  • Delay after telling Hugo the truth: Hugo and Lanzo kill each other, and the reward is XP and gold alone.

Smithing Upgrade Guide

Every weapon can be enhanced three times at an armoury or smithy, each time for gold and the materials listed below, and a fourth time with Wyrmfire. Any armoury or smithy works on weapons and armour alike. Each smith works in one style, and you can mix styles from one level to the next.

  • Vermundian raises every attribute moderately. Armouries and smithies in Vermund offer it, such as Roderick's Smithy and Bjorn's Armory in Vernworth.
  • Elven raises Magick and Magick Defense greatly, Strength and Defense only a little. Grisha's Armory in Sacred Arbor offers it.
  • Battahli raises Strength and Defense greatly, Magick and Magick Defense only a little. Armouries in Battahl offer it, such as Awaran's Arms and Bodas's Armory in Bakbattahl.
  • Dwarven raises Knockdown Power and Knockdown Resistance. Sara at Brokkr's Smithy offers it after Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge, and Gautstafr after Put a Spring in Thy Step.
  • Wyrmfire halves the weight and gives a further boost once the first three enhancements are done. The Dragonforged at Bay Wayside Shrine takes payment in Wyrmslife Crystals instead of gold.

The tables below give the cost, materials and result of every level for each style.

Taking Frosted Edges to level 3 costs 14,100 G in all, whichever style you choose. Elven smithing gives it the most Magick at level 3 (524), while Dwarven gives the most Knockdown Power (253). Wyrmfire then costs 15 Wyrmslife Crystals.
