Chrysamere is the Paladin's Blade, a claymore that has run through Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion before reaching Skyrim through its own Creation. It hits for 25, which ties it with Shadowrend as the hardest hitting greatsword short of the Madness and dragonbone sets.
Weapon Enchantment
Chrysamere is unusual in that its enchantment works while it is simply equipped rather than on a hit. Holding it grants 15 per cent fire resistance, 10 per cent spell absorption, and slow health regeneration during combat.
That makes it a defensive weapon rather than a damage one. A character who is already losing fights to mages gains more from the 10 per cent absorption than from any on-hit effect at this damage level.
You can find full breakdown and information of all Weapon Enchantment Effects.
Where to Find the Chrysamere Location?
- Found in Forelhost, the ruin south-east of Riften.
- It came with the Chrysamere Creation, released on 4 October 2017 in the first batch of Creations.
Smithing Guide
Enchanted weapons require the Arcane Blacksmith Perk to upgrade.
Tempering it needs the Arcane Blacksmith perk, because the weapon is enchanted. The material perk below doubles what each improvement is worth.

Weapon Levels
Some weapons in Skyrim are Levelled. The power of a levelled weapon is based on your charcters level when you get them. Some get stronger in both physical and magical aspects, while others only improve their enchantments. These items don't get better as your character levels up.
