Defender of the Faith is a secondary quest in Velen. A distraught old woman tells Geralt that someone has been wrecking the shrines along the roads. She begs him to repair them and to punish those responsible. Geralt does not share her faith or her anger, but he decides to help all the same.
Defender of the Faith Map Location and Quest Guide
Defender of the Faith map location:
- Find the old woman at the shrine by Duén Hen or near Blackbough.
- Fix the shrine where she waits.
- Ride to the second damaged shrine and fix it.
- Kill the endrega warrior or the wolves that may wait near the shrine.
- Ride to the last shrine and find the vandals there.
- Talk to the vandals.
- Beat or kill the vandals to stop them.

Choices
The vandals are students from Oxenfurt Academy. They follow a radical thinker and have turned against religion. Geralt can let them carry on, which fails the quest. He can also fight them. A beating or a killing both complete the quest.

Notes
- A griffin roams the main roads between the shrines, and it is far stronger than the quest's level.
- An endrega warrior appears if the Duén Hen shrine is fixed second. Wolves appear at the shrine between Byways and Frischlow.
- Starting at Duén Hen and fixing the shrine near Crow's Perch next avoids most fights.
