Hard Times is a secondary quest on Ard Skellig in Skellige. Travel on the isles is not safe. In the forest south of the Miners' Camp, Geralt finds a wrecked wagon and the bodies of the Skelligers who owned it. A cyclops butchered them. On one of the dead, Geralt finds a letter for the smith at Kaer Trolde.
Hard Times Map Location and Quest Guide
Hard Times map location:
- Go to the road south of the Miners' Camp on Ard Skellig.
- Kill the cyclops near the wrecked wagon.
- Use Witcher Senses to investigate the broken cart.
- Follow the tracks leading away from the cart.
- Kill the monsters at the end of the trail and search the dead woman's body.
- Read the letter found on the body.
- Take the letter to Yanne, the smith at Kaer Trolde.
- Tell Yanne how the letter was found, or keep the truth from him.

Choices
The letter is from Yanne's sister. When he asks how Geralt got it, Geralt can tell him the truth. Yanne mourns his sister but thanks Geralt and pays him some crowns.
Geralt can also refuse to say how he found it. Yanne then assumes Geralt robbed and killed his family. He refuses to work for Geralt again.
