Nathaniel Pastodi is a reverend of the Church of the Eternal Fire in Novigrad. He runs the city morgue. He is a cruel man with a dark past. Geralt meets him in the secondary quest Carnal Sins.
Lore
Reverend Nathaniel served for years as the city torturer. Only then did he become a priest. A former hangman makes a poor pastor, but in Novigrad anything is possible. As supervisor of the morgue, he is the superior of the coroner, Hubert Rejk.
Story
In Carnal Sins, Geralt hunts the killer who attacked Priscilla. He and the surgeon Joachim von Gratz examine an earlier victim at the morgue. Rejk interrupts them, and Reverend Nathaniel then throws them out.
Later, a note on Patricia Vegelbud's body names the killer's next victim. She is a prostitute called Sweet Nettie at Crippled Kate's, a brothel. Geralt finds Nathaniel in her room. Nettie is tied up, and the reverend stands over her with a white-hot poker.
The scene proves that Nathaniel is a cruel sadist. It does not prove that he is the serial killer. If Geralt kills him at once, the case looks closed, but the real murderer goes free. If Geralt talks to him first, Nathaniel points him to Hubert Rejk. After that talk, Geralt can still kill him, stop him with the Axii Sign, or let him be. If Geralt spares him and misses the real killer, a new body later clears Nathaniel of the murders.
Relationships
Hubert Rejk is the coroner who works under him. Rejk tries to pin the murders on him.
