Payback is one of the main quests inside Final Preparations. Ciri wants to repay a few debts from her time in Novigrad and settle a few scores. Geralt joins her on a round of visits to the people she met there. The trip ends at the camp of a travelling circus troupe outside the city.

Payback Map Location and Quest Guide

Payback map location:

Meet Ciri at the Gildorf market square during the day.
Follow Ciri to find Whoreson Junior.
If Whoreson died in Get Junior, get past his two guards with Axii or a fight.
Follow Ciri to the top floor of the hideout and talk to the man who calls himself Dudu.
If Whoreson lived, find him in an alley in the Bits and leave him be.
Follow Ciri to the Golden Sturgeon and deal with the thugs bothering Bea.
Follow Ciri to the camp in Farcorners and talk to Valdo.
Take part in the horse race with Valdo, if wanted.
Talk with the troupe until Aegar asks for help stealing horses.
Agree to the theft or refuse it.
At the stables, climb in over the roof.
Take the stable key and open the doors without waking the guard.
If the guard wakes, knock him out and calm the horses with Axii.

Choices

The first visit depends on Get Junior. If Geralt spared Whoreson Junior, Ciri finds him begging in the Bits. She leaves him to his misery. If Geralt killed him, Dudu has taken his shape and runs his business.

At the Golden Sturgeon, Geralt can scare off the thugs with words or throw them out by force.

At the camp, Aegar asks for help stealing horses. If Geralt agrees, the night ends with a heist and Ciri is happy. If Geralt refuses, Aegar starts a fistfight and the evening is ruined.
