Speed Junkie

Speed Junkie
Speed Junkie
Class Body Perk
Attribute Body
Tier Rookie (4)
Levels 1
Requires Painkiller

Speed Junkie heals V while V is running. The regeneration rate rises sharply during a sprint, which turns the move between two pieces of cover into the moment the health bar refills. It is one of the Body tree's regeneration picks. Builds that keep moving through a fight get the most from it.

Effect

The bonus is on while the sprint is on and off the moment it stops. In practice that means health comes back during the parts of a fight V spends crossing the room rather than the parts spent shooting.

It fits the way a heavy weapon build actually moves. Shotguns and machine guns want to be close, closing the distance is a sprint, and the sprint is now also the heal. The trickle it multiplies has to be unlocked separately.

How to Unlock Speed Junkie

It sits behind the Rookie gate of the Body tree, so it is available almost immediately. Painkiller comes first, because combat regeneration is its effect and not this one's.

Perk Tree

Speed Junkie is bought from Painkiller in the Body tree.

Character Builds

It suits a Body build that closes distance rather than holding ground, which is how a shotgun build has to play. Sprinting is already how that build crosses a room, so the regeneration is on during the part of the fight it is most needed.

Take it with the healing branch at the Rookie gate and pair it with Like A Feather higher in the tree, which removes the movement penalty a heavy gun carries. Without that perk a machine gun build rarely sprints at all and this one goes to waste.

Notes

Sprinting costs stamina, and a build already spending stamina on heavy weapon fire has to choose where it goes.

Like A Feather removes the movement penalty heavy guns carry, which makes sprinting with one worth doing and this perk easier to keep active.
