Jobs

Jackie Welles

Jobs are the missions of Cyberpunk 2077. Every story, from the heist on Konpeki Plaza to the last raid on Arasaka Tower, is told through them. They come in five kinds: main jobs that carry the story of V and the Relic, side jobs that follow the people of Night City, gigs handed out by the fixers of each district, cyberpsycho sightings for Regina Jones, and NCPD scanner hustles picked up on the police radio. Almost every job pays eddies and raises V's Street Cred, which opens better gigs, vendor discounts and new vehicles. Many jobs end in more than one way, and a choice made in one can open, close or change another, or even decide which endings are possible. Each job page below has the story, a step by step walkthrough, a map of where the job starts, the choices that matter and the rewards.

Kinds of Jobs

Main jobs carry the story of V and the Relic, and the endings of the game. Side jobs follow the people of Night City, from romances and old friends to strange characters met on the street. Gigs are smaller jobs handed out by the fixers of each district. Cyberpsycho sightings send V after people who have lost their minds to their implants, and NCPD scanner hustles are crimes picked up on the police scanner.

The journal sorts them the same way. Main jobs and side jobs are the stories with characters who come back again and again. Gigs, sightings and hustles are the work of a merc: a client pays, a fixer takes a cut, and V does the job however V sees fit.

Job Categories

The Life of a Merc

The in-game Database puts it plainly. Anyone with a serious problem who would rather not bring in the police or the corp hires a mercenary: a techie, a solo, a netrunner or someone with even rarer skills. Mercs usually work through fixers, the go-betweens who put the right team together for a client and take care of the messy side of the deal. Most mercs start out on the street, taking whatever comes their way until a fixer notices them. Only a few end up as legends, like Morgan Blackhand.

That is the life V and Jackie Welles chase at the start of the game. Their first big job, the rescue of Sandra Dorsett for Wakako Okada, opens the way to the Afterlife, the bar where the best mercs and fixers meet. As the Database says, there is only one path in Night City worth walking: the one that leads to the Afterlife.

Street Cred

Street Cred measures V's name on the street. Almost every job raises it, from a short hustle to a long side story. The more Street Cred V has, the more doors open: better offers from vehicle sellers, discounts at vendors, and work that is out of reach for small time punks. Some jobs only appear after V has made enough of a name.

Choices

Many jobs end in more than one way. A choice made early can open or close later jobs, decide who lives and who dies, and change which endings are possible. Keeping a gang member alive in one gig can bring a thank you message weeks later. Sparing a target in another can open a whole side job. The guides point out where these choices come, and what each one leads to.

Some jobs also depend on V's attributes. Enough Body opens a locked door or scares a thug away. Enough Technical Ability or Intelligence opens a quieter route. A life path, Streetkid, Corpo or Nomad, adds its own lines to many talks, and a few jobs are only open to one of them.

The Point of No Return

The main story ends with Nocturne Op55N1. Once V meets Hanako Arasaka at Embers, the rest of the open world closes until the ending has been played. Side jobs, gigs, sightings and hustles still open at that point are lost for that run. Several endings also need certain side jobs finished first, such as the jobs of Panam Palmer or Rogue.
