Animal Farming is the Farmer's guide to taming the first farm animal, a Common Goat. It teaches the whole process: crafting bait, sneaking up, feeding and petting until the animal trusts the player, and then giving it a feeder and a bed at the base.
Walkthrough
The quest step by step:
- Finish Farmer Needs Shelter, then speak to the Farmer.
- Make at least three goat food baits with the Farmer.
- Find a wild goat and sneak towards it so it does not flee.
- Throw a bait close to it. While it eats, move in and pet it.
- Repeat until it trusts the player, then pick it up.
- Take the goat home and place it in the base. An enclosure keeps it from wandering.
- Craft a goat feeder and a farm animal pillow and place them near the goat.
Two happy animals near each other and a spare bed let them breed, which gives more goats without catching them.
Prerequisites
This quest opens after Farmer Needs Shelter. In that quest, the Farmer asks for a home with a sheltered bed nearby, so she can make her crafts. A new bed goes to the nearest free survivor once it is placed. The Summoning Staff can assign a bed to someone else. The shelter quest reopens whenever the survivors lose their shelter. Once the Farmer is settled, she shares her recipes for animal food baits.
