Light of Day is a one-handed sword that hits for only 16, and is worth carrying anyway if you are fighting the undead. Its sun damage triples against undead targets, which in a draugr barrow or against vampires turns 30 points into 90 on top of the swing.
Weapon Enchantment
30 points of sun damage, tripled against undead targets.
Against a living enemy this is an ordinary 30 point enchantment on a weak sword. Against draugr, vampires and skeletons it is the strongest anti-undead effect available on a one-handed weapon, which makes it a situational swap rather than a main weapon.
You can find full breakdown and information of all Weapon Enchantment Effects.
Where to Find the Light of Day Location?
- A Dawnguard weapon, tied to the vampire hunting half of the add-on.
- Since its value is entirely in the undead multiplier, it is worth keeping in the pack for barrows rather than carrying as your main sword.
Smithing Guide
Enchanted weapons require the Arcane Blacksmith Perk to upgrade.
Silver weapons do not follow the ordinary material perks. Tempering it needs the Arcane Blacksmith perk, because the weapon is enchanted. The material perk below doubles what each improvement is worth.

Weapon Levels
Some weapons in Skyrim are Levelled. The power of a levelled weapon is based on your charcters level when you get them. Some get stronger in both physical and magical aspects, while others only improve their enchantments. These items don't get better as your character levels up.
