Restoration is the school of life force in Skyrim, covering healing, wards and effects that turn or damage undead.
Healing And Wards
Healing spells restore health for you and for others, and with the Respite perk they restore stamina as well, which quietly turns a healing spell into a sprint refill.
Ward spells give armour rating and negate incoming magic. They are strong against dragon breath in particular, and many mages adventure with a ward in one hand and a Destruction spell in the other. The cost is magicka: wards drain it fast.
The Vampire Quirk
Necromage increases the effect of all spells against undead. If the player character is a vampire, the player counts as undead, so the perk improves their own spells, enchantments and even some perks. It is widely treated as a bug rather than intent, and it is the most powerful single interaction in the game's magic system.
Main Effects
Wards are effective against dragon breath.
| Effect | What it gives |
|---|---|
| Healing | Restores health, and stamina with Respite |
| Wards | Armour rating and magic negation |
| Turn Undead | Makes undead flee |
| Necromage | Stronger effects against undead |
