Shadowrend in its battleaxe form hits for 26 and weighs 27, against the greatsword form's 25 and 23. One extra damage for four extra weight, and you can only ever have one of the two.
Weapon Enchantment
The target is 15 per cent weaker to magic for 30 seconds.
Identical to the greatsword form. It sets a target up for a spell rather than doing anything on its own, so the value depends entirely on whether anything in your party casts.
You can find full breakdown and information of all Weapon Enchantment Effects.
Where to Find the Shadowrend Battleaxe Location?
- Both forms come from the Shadowrend Creation. Defeating the shadow that guards them lets you take one.
- Take the battleaxe over the greatsword only if you want the extra point of damage and can afford the weight.
Smithing Guide
Enchanted weapons require the Arcane Blacksmith Perk to upgrade.
Tempering it needs the Arcane Blacksmith perk, because the weapon is enchanted. The material perk below doubles what each improvement is worth.
| Tempering Material | Perk |

Weapon Levels
Some weapons in Skyrim are Levelled. The power of a levelled weapon is based on your charcters level when you get them. Some get stronger in both physical and magical aspects, while others only improve their enchantments. These items don't get better as your character levels up.
