Bran Tuirseach is the late king of the Skellige Isles. He has died by the time Geralt reaches Skellige. His death starts the struggle over who will be the next king. Geralt attends his wake at Kaer Trolde during the quest The King is Dead - Long Live the King.
Lore
King Bran lived a long and eventful life. When he felt old age taking hold of him, he went into the woods to hunt a bear, armed with only a knife. So his reign ended.
The islanders remember his reign as honorable and respected. Still, some complain that he liked raiding better than facing the long-standing problems of the isles. Others say that he let his wife speak too freely. Some link the two, and claim that Bran sailed off to fight battles overseas to avoid the ones waiting for him at home.
Story
Jarl Crach an Craite invites Geralt and Yennefer to a farewell feast for the dead king at Kaer Trolde. In Skellige, such an invitation cannot be refused. Mead flows freely at the wake, and Geralt makes quite an impression on the jarls.
Relationships
Birna is Bran's widow, and Svanrige is their son.
