Crach an Craite
Type	Character
DLC	Base game
Also known as	Wild Boar of the Sea

Crach an Craite is the jarl of Clan an Craite and lord of Kaer Trolde on Ard Skellig. He is the mightiest of the jarls of Skellige and an old friend of Geralt. Geralt meets him at Kaer Trolde, where the leaders of the isles gather to bury King Bran.

Lore

---

Crach has all the traits of a hero: strength, courage, wisdom, generosity and loyalty to his friends. He is also relentless with his foes. His enemies fear him. In Nilfgaard, mothers use his name to frighten their children into obeying. The whole empire speaks in hushed tones of Tirth ys Muire, the Wild Boar of the Sea. He laid waste to its coastal provinces in frequent and terrible raids.

Geralt has known Crach for a long time. They met when the young Crach sought the hand of Pavetta, Ciri's mother. Many years ago Crach also made a pledge, for himself and his whole clan, to stand by Ciri.

Story

---

King Bran dies shortly before Geralt reaches Skellige. Crach invites Geralt and Yennefer to the wake for the king at Kaer Trolde. After Bran's death, Crach could easily claim the throne for himself. Instead he backs the claim of his son, Hjalmar. When his daughter Cerys also announces she will seek the throne, he supports her too, and shows no favor to either child. Which of them wins depends on whom Geralt helps.

Honor is the virtue the islanders prize most. Crach keeps his old pledge without hesitation. He backs the search for Ciri with every means Skellige can offer.

Crach also stands his ground when the time comes to fight Eredin. The King of the Wild Hunt kills him in that fight. His death does not break the islanders' spirit. Instead it becomes their model of how a true hero dies.

Relationships

---

Hjalmar and Cerys are Crach's children, and both seek the crown of Skellige with his support. Ermion, the leader of the druids of Skellige, is his advisor on magic. Geralt is an old friend, and Ciri is under the protection of his oath.
