The King is Dead - Long Live the King is the first main quest in Skellige. Crach an Craite invites Geralt and Yennefer to the wake for King Bran in Kaer Trolde. In Skellige, nobody refuses such an invitation. During the feast, Yennefer pulls Geralt aside with a plan of her own. She wants to break into the workshop of the druid Ermion and steal the Mask of Uroboros.
The King is Dead - Long Live the King Map Location and Quest Guide
The King is Dead - Long Live the King map location:
- Go to Yennefer's room in Kaer Trolde Harbor and put on the new clothes from the chest.
- Meet Yennefer at the entrance to Kaer Trolde keep.
- Go with Yennefer to the wake inside the hall.
- Race Cerys up the mountain and pull Hjalmar's axe from the stump, or decline her challenge.
- Talk to the guests with Yennefer.
- Talk to Yennefer in private about her plan.
- Climb out of the window and cross the balcony to Ermion's workshop.
- Search the room of stuffed animals with Witcher Senses.
- Kill the beasts that seem to come to life.
- Search the workshop with Witcher Senses.
- Put the goblet of mead in the statue's outstretched hand.
- Go down the steps into the secret chamber and kill the earth elemental.
- Look for a way out of the trap, then choose where Yennefer teleports the two of them.
- Return to the wake and talk to Crach an Craite.

Choices
The clothes matter to Yennefer. She praises Geralt's look in the new outfit and scolds him in anything else.
Cerys an Craite challenges Geralt to a race up the mountain. The race is optional.
The last choice comes in the poisoned chamber. Yennefer asks Geralt what first comes to mind. One answer sends them back into the middle of the wake. The other sends them to her quarters, where they spend some time alone before they return.

Notes
- The stuffed animals only come to life in Geralt's mind. Yennefer laughs at him afterward.
- Crach agrees to win Ermion's permission for Yennefer. He also asks for help with tasks that start The Lord of Undvik and Possession.
