Moonblade is a Relic silver sword from the base game with 3 rune slots. It rolls +1-5% Yrden sign intensity, +10-15% crit damage and +1-5% crit chance, with a fixed 1% chance to freeze. It comes from three fixed spots: Sigo Buntz, Mad Kiyan and the Spoils of War south of Swamp Bint Harbor. Mad Kiyan carries it during the level 17 Scavenger Hunt: Cat School Gear in Novigrad, a mid-game quest.

The Yrden bonus helps a signs build that uses Yrden. The crit chance and crit damage rolls work together on its hits. Each bonus rolls on every copy. Its 3 rune slots hold three runestones or one runeword, which fills all three slots of a sword.

How to Get Moonblade

Moonblade Map Location and Quest Guide

The pin marks the hidden laboratory under Temple Isle in Novigrad, where Mad Kiyan waits at the end of the armor route of Scavenger Hunt: Cat School Gear. The relic Moonblade drops from his body, along with the Feline Armor diagrams.

  1. Start Scavenger Hunt: Cat School Gear by finding any of its diagrams or Julia Kenyon's diary, or by buying one of Adalbert Kermith's maps.
  2. Go to the westernmost house on Temple Isle and drop from the rock ledge on its west side to a grassy path.
  3. Follow the path to its end and reveal the cave entrance with the Eye of Nehaleni.
  4. Kill the golem in the main chamber.
  5. Go down the tunnel opposite the entrance and pull the levers until every statue faces the center of the room.
  6. Kill the drowners in the pool that opens, then dive for the laboratory key.
  7. Open the locked door in the main chamber and fight Mad Kiyan, a witcher who uses Signs.
  8. Loot Kiyan's body for Moonblade and the armor diagrams.
