Bullet Deflect sends incoming rounds back where V is looking. Blocking with a blade while stamina is healthy no longer just stops a bullet, it returns it, and timing the block just before the hit makes the return harder. It is the heart of the blade branch of the Reflexes tree. A katana becomes a ranged weapon.
Effect
The deflection follows the reticle, so the rounds are aimed rather than scattered. A corridor full of gunfire becomes ammunition that V points at whoever fired it.
The timing is what separates a good deflect from an ordinary one. Blocking early stops the round, blocking at the last moment sends it back with far more behind it. Stamina has to be above a third of the bar for any of it to work.
How to Unlock Bullet Deflect
It sits behind the Pro gate of the Reflexes tree. Lead And Steel must be bought first, because the block this perk reads is the one that perk unlocks.
Perk Tree
Bullet Deflect is bought from Lead And Steel in the Reflexes tree.
| Name | Image | Tier | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lead And Steel | Pro (9) | -15% Stamina cost attacks with Blades. |
Buying Bullet Deflect opens the perks below.
| Name | Image | Tier | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bullet Time | Pro (9) | Whenever time is slowed, Bullet Deflect does not consume Stamina and deflections automatically hit enemies for Crit Damage. |
Character Builds
It belongs to the blade Reflexes build once it has decided to fight in the open rather than from cover. A katana is the weapon and stamina management is the skill it demands.
Buy it at the Pro gate straight after Lead And Steel, then Bullet Time above it. A Sandevistan makes that second perk fire constantly, which is why most katana builds carry one. Mitigation from the Cool or Body trees covers the hits that get through while the block is down.
Notes
Bullet Time is bought from it and removes both the stamina cost and the guesswork while time is slowed.
Blades are the only weapons it applies to, and the Reflexes attribute is what improves them.
