Proximate Propagation makes quickhacks cheaper the closer V stands. The RAM cost falls as the distance shrinks, which rewards a netrunner who works inside the room rather than from a rooftop. It is an early pick in the Intelligence tree. It changes where a hacking build chooses to stand.
Effect
RAM is the limit on how many hacks a fight can hold. Lowering the cost is the same as raising the bar, and here the discount is a sliding scale rather than a flat cut.
The trade is exposure for volume. Hacking from a distance is safe and expensive, hacking from close by is cheap and dangerous, and this perk makes the second option worth the risk.
How to Unlock Proximate Propagation
It sits behind the Rookie gate of the Intelligence tree and is bought from Optimization.
Perk Tree
Proximate Propagation is bought from Optimization in the Intelligence tree.
| Name | Image | Tier | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Optimization | Rookie (4) | +35% RAM recovery rate. |
Character Builds
The build is a close range netrunner, which usually means a Monowire in the arm slot and optical camo to get there safely.
Buy it at the Rookie gate from Optimization. Siphon at the Pro gate turns Monowire swings into RAM, and this perk makes the hacks fired from that range cheaper, so the two together are the melee netrunner's economy.
Notes
Siphon and the Monowire line reward a netrunner who is already in melee range, which is the same place this perk pays.
Optical camo is the usual way a build gets that close without being shot.
