Soldier of Godrick is a dungeon boss in Elden Ring.
The Soldier of Godrick is a lone foot soldier who guards the end of the Cave of Knowledge. The cave lies below the Stranded Graveyard, where the journey through Limgrave begins. The fight works as a lesson in boss fights, guard counters and critical hits. A single critical hit after a broken stance ends it quickly.
Lore
The soldier wears the orange and green surcoat of Godrick's army over a plain helm. He swings a long Lordsworn's Greatsword in slow, heavy arcs.
His surcoat bears the distant Erdtree and the beast regent, the old emblem of the golden lineage. Both symbols stand for a glory that has long since passed.
The soldiers who serve Godrick the Grafted are the remains of the army that fled the royal capital. Their arms still look cared for, though the men who carry them have long lost their minds.

Attacks
- Overhead Slash: he charges a heavy downward cut; roll to the side or guard and counter.
- Charging Thrust: he holds the sword level, runs in and stabs; wait for the thrust before rolling, since an early roll gets caught.
- Triple Slash: up to three diagonal cuts in a row; roll back or guard and counter.
- Wide Slash: a horizontal sweep from his right to his left; roll back or to the right.
Tactics
- Raise a shield and block one of his swings.
- Answer the block at once with a heavy attack for a guard counter, which breaks his stance.
- Strike the stunned soldier for a critical hit, which takes a large share of his health.
- A backstab after rolling past a slow swing works just as well.
- Dodge to the sides, because his cuts travel up and down in straight lines.

Shield and guard counter
A blocked swing followed by a guard counter breaks his stance and sets up a critical hit.
Charged heavy attacks
A charged heavy attack from any weapon breaks his stance for a critical hit.
Pierce or lightning damage
He takes extra damage from thrusting attacks and from lightning.

Notes
- The boss can be skipped by leaving the Stranded Graveyard through the main door instead of dropping into the cave.
- He wears the Godrick Soldier set and wields the Lordsworn's Greatsword.
- His stance is tougher than that of the normal Godrick Soldiers met in Limgrave.
