Limgrave is the first open region of the Lands Between and the place where every journey begins. It lies in the south-west, far from the Erdtree, under cloudy skies. Green plains, golden trees and old ruins stretch across it. Godrick the Grafted rules the land from Stormveil Castle on the cliffs to the north-west. Limgrave is where the Tarnished learns to ride, fight and explore before moving on.

Lore
Old maps describe Limgrave as a demesne far south of the Erdtree, bordered by the cliffs of Stormveil. Long ago, a king of the storm ruled from Stormveil Castle, when the true storm still raged over the hill. After the Shattering, Godrick the Grafted took the castle. He is a distant heir of the Golden Lineage. He grafts the limbs of the fallen onto his own body to gain their strength. His soldiers patrol the roads and hold forts across the land.
The demigods went to war over the shards of the Elden Ring, and the war reached Limgrave too. Godrick's men took Fort Haight from Kenneth Haight, who still dreams of ruling Limgrave. Castle Morne to the south rose in revolt against its castellan. Dragons nest on Agheel Lake, and the ruins on the lake show the scars of their fire. Those Who Live in Death have taken Summonwater Village in the north-east.
The old churches of Marika stand across the land. At the Third Church of Marika, Melina shares an echo of the queen. In it, Marika strips her lord and his warriors of their grace and banishes them. Those warriors were the first Tarnished, sent away from the Lands Between.
Beneath Limgrave flows the Siofra River, an underground land with its own starry sky. The Eternal City of Nokron lies hidden there. Starscourge Radahn once held the stars in place. When he falls, a star crashes into the land south of the Mistwood and opens the way down.
Geography
The journey begins at the Chapel of Anticipation, on a lonely cliff south of Liurnia. After the first fight, the Tarnished wakes in the Stranded Graveyard. The Cave of Knowledge below teaches the basics of combat. The door of the graveyard opens onto the First Step, from which the Church of Elleh is visible to the north. Merchant Kalé, a Smithing Table and Renna wait there. A Tree Sentinel rides the field just outside.
Western Limgrave holds the Gatefront Ruins, where Melina can be met at the Site of Grace. North of them, Stormgate opens onto Stormhill, the windswept north-west. The road through Stormhill passes the Stormhill Shack, the Warmaster's Shack and the Deathtouched Catacombs. It ends at the castle bridge, where Margit, the Fell Omen waits before Stormveil Castle. The coast to the west holds the Coastal Cave. Beyond the cave lies the island of the Church of Dragon Communion.
Agheel Lake fills the middle of Limgrave. The Dragon-Burnt Ruins stand in the water, and Flying Dragon Agheel circles above. The Waypoint Ruins to the east hide Sorceress Sellen. The Limgrave Tunnels and the Murkwater Cave lie near the lake's edges. The river north of the lake runs past Saintsbridge to the Highroad Cave.
Eastern Limgrave is the Mistwood, a dense forest where Blaidd howls among the Mistwood Ruins. Fort Haight stands on the coast beyond it and holds one half of the Dectus Medallion. The Third Church of Marika lies just north of the forest. A waygate near it leads straight to the Bestial Sanctum in Dragonbarrow. The road east climbs to the Smoldering Church and on into Caelid.
The Bridge of Sacrifice in the south leads to the Weeping Peninsula. The way north to Liurnia passes through Stormveil Castle, or along a narrow cliff path east of it. Most runs spend their first hours in Limgrave and return here many times.
Bosses
Margit, the Fell Omen guards the approach to Stormveil Castle, and Godrick the Grafted waits inside. The caves and catacombs hold the Soldier of Godrick, the Grafted Scion, Patches, the Beastman of Farum Azula, the Demi-Human Chiefs, the Stonedigger Troll, the Guardian Golem, the Grave Warden Duelist, the Erdtree Burial Watchdog and the Black Knife Assassin.
