Godrick the Grafted is a legendary boss in Elden Ring.
Godrick the Grafted is the demigod lord of Stormveil Castle and the first shardbearer most players face. He waits at the top of the castle beyond the Secluded Cell Site of Grace. He swings a golden axe with storm-charged blows, then grafts a dragon's head onto his arm for the second half of the fight. His defeat yields Godrick's Great Rune and the Remembrance of the Grafted.
Lore
Godrick is a giant, grotesque figure whose body is a mass of limbs grafted from other beings. He wields a golden battleaxe emblazoned with the figure of a beast. In battle he cuts off his own arm and grafts the head of a dragon in its place.
Godrick was a descendant of the golden lineage, but his divine blood was thin. After the Shattering he claimed the Great Rune known as the anchor ring, found at the center of the Elden Ring. He was hounded from the royal capital and fled south to Stormveil.
At Stormveil, Godrick practiced grafting, joining the parts of other beings to his own body to gain power. He idolized Godfrey, the first Elden Lord, and bore his ancestor's beast on his axe. His soldiers hunted the Tarnished to supply new parts for his grafts.

Phases
- Phase 1: Godrick fights with his axe, storm-charged sweeps and ground stomps.
- Phase 2: at half health he cuts off his arm and grafts a dragon's head onto it, adding fire breath to his axe attacks.
Attacks
- Stormcaller: he spins a cyclone around his axe and then leaps in with Storm Assault. Getting close to bait the leap, then running behind him, opens several hits.
- Axe Lunge: a long reaching thrust with the axe. A roll to the side punishes its long recovery.
- Jumping Slam: he leaps and crashes down with the axe. A roll toward him and to the side avoids it.
- Fury Swings: a five-hit combo, with a long recovery after the fifth swing.
- Lesser Command and I Command Thee, Kneel!: he slams the ground and sends out a shockwave. Jumping or rolling through the wave avoids it.
- Dragon fire breath: in phase two the dragon arm breathes sweeping flame. Staying right in front of the arm or moving to his side avoids it.
Tactics
- Summon Nepheli Loux from her sign outside the boss door after exhausting her dialogue.
- Summon a durable spirit such as the Spirit Jellyfish Ashes or the Rotten Stray Ashes.
- Use the trees, pillars and rocks for cover, then move back to the open center.
- Wait for his long-recovery moves, such as Storm Assault, Axe Lunge and Jumping Slam, before attacking.
- Use jump attacks and charged heavy attacks to break his stance for a critical hit.
- In phase two, get to his side whenever the dragon arm starts to breathe fire.

Physical damage spells
Godrick takes more damage from physical than elemental attacks, so Rock Sling and Bestial Sling hit hard.
