Elden Ring - Bosses

Bosses are the great foes who guard the roads, dungeons and thrones of the Lands Between and the Realm of Shadow. Each boss page covers lore, tactics, weaknesses, the builds that work best and everything the boss drops.

Boss Types

Legendary bosses are the demigods and other great foes whose defeat yields a remembrance. Great bosses guard legacy dungeons and key roads, and many drop unique weapons, spells or spirit ashes. Field bosses roam the open world, and some, such as the Night's Cavalry and the Bell Bearing Hunter, appear only at night. Dungeon bosses wait at the end of caves, catacombs, tunnels and gaols.

Evergaol bosses are spirits sealed inside evergaols, and some evergaols shut out spirit ashes and co-op.

Shardbearers

Shardbearers hold the Great Runes, the shards of the shattered Elden Ring. Godrick, Rennala, Radahn, Rykard, Morgott, Mohg and Malenia each hold a Great Rune. Two Great Runes are needed to pass into Leyndell, Royal Capital. Several shardbearers are optional, so the order of the journey is open.

Remembrances

Each legendary boss leaves a remembrance, hewn into the Erdtree or the Scadutree. The Finger Reader can unlock a remembrance's power as a unique weapon, spell or item. A remembrance can instead be used to gain a great bounty of runes. Dragon hearts, including the Heart of Bayle, are offered at Dragon Communion altars for dragon incantations.

Summons and Co-op

Most boss fights allow spirit ashes once the player is near the arena. Several duels shut out spirit ashes, such as Roundtable Knight Vyke's evergaol and the nameless mausoleums of the Realm of Shadow. NPC summon signs appear near many arenas, such as Sorcerer Rogier for Margit and Melina for Morgott. Summoning other players raises a boss's health.

Starscourge Radahn's battle lets a crowd of NPC champions be summoned again and again.

Preparing

Each boss page lists the damage types and status effects that work best and those to avoid. Talismans such as the Flamedrake, Boltdrake, Spelldrake and Haligdrake Talismans cut elemental damage. The Flask of Wondrous Physick holds crystal tears that raise attack or defense for a short time. Margit's Shackle and Mohg's Shackle pin their targets to the ground for free hits.

Torrent helps against large field bosses such as dragons and Starscourge Radahn.

Realm of Shadow

The Realm of Shadow holds its own legendary bosses, from Rellana and Messmer to Promised Consort Radahn. Scadutree Fragments strengthen the Scadutree Blessing, which raises damage and defense against foes of the Realm of Shadow. The nameless mausoleums hold the spirits of warriors who lost their names or their hearts, each waiting for a duel. Miquella's Great Rune, won from the Scadutree Avatar, breaks the charm cast during the final battle.

Promised Consort Radahn at the Gate of Divinity is the final boss of the Realm of Shadow.
