The Sword of the Crusader is one of the relics of Pelinal Whitestrake, brought over from Oblivion by the Divine Crusader Creation. It is part of a set rather than a standalone weapon, and its fire enchantment is deliberately modest so that the set as a whole stays balanced.
Weapon Enchantment
Burns the target for 15 points, with the usual extra damage against a target already on fire. Half the magnitude of Dragon's Oath, but the charge lasts far longer: roughly 176 swings against 60.
Where to Find the Sword of the Crusader
- The Relics of the Crusader quest sends you to reclaim the set.
- The sword is held by bandits at Four Skull Lookout, in the Reach.
Smithing Guide
Tempering it needs the Arcane Blacksmith perk, because the weapon is enchanted. The material perk below doubles what each improvement is worth.

Weapon Levels
