The Volunteer is a secondary quest at White Eagle Fort, near Oxenfurt. Geralt follows the sound of awful singing and finds a troll called Trollololo. The troll believes he is a soldier in the Redanian army. Geralt has to decide whether this odd recruit is a danger to the locals.
The Volunteer Map Location and Quest Guide
The Volunteer map location:
- Read the notice on the Oxenfurt notice board, or travel to White Eagle Fort.
- Look around the area.
- Talk to Trollololo, the singing troll just northeast of the White Eagle Fort signpost.
- Hear how he killed and ate both the soldiers and the peasants.
- Choose to let it slide, or kill the troll.
- To spare him, buy paint from the merchant in Oxenfurt.
- Deliver the paint to the troll.
- Paint the Redanian coat of arms, or leave the job to Trollololo.
- To kill him instead, defeat the troll and loot his body.

Choices
Trollololo guarded boats for the Redanian soldiers. Peasants came to take the boats back, and a fight broke out. The troll tried to help, but he killed everyone on both sides. Then he cooked and ate the bodies.
If Geralt kills him, the troll drops hides and monster parts, sometimes with a Cave Troll Liver.
If Geralt lets it slide, the troll asks for red and white paint for his fort. Either Geralt or the troll paints the coat of arms. The reward is the same both ways: 50 XP, hides, and the Gven'nel and Axeman's Gauntlets diagrams.
