Vigi the Loon is a warrior of Clan Tordarroch in Skellige and a member of Hjalmar an Craite's crew. He is fearless to the point of madness. Geralt finds him caged in the Ice Giant's cave on Undvik, in the secondary quest The Lord of Undvik.

Lore

Skellige folk value courage above all else. Even so, Vigi's fearlessness goes far beyond bravery and deep into suicidal madness. He hoped to earn the name Vigi the Unfearing. Instead, his deeds earned him the name Vigi the Loon, and that seems to suit him just fine.

Story

Vigi craved glory and wanted to save his home isle from the Ice Giant. He talked Hjalmar into the journey to Undvik. Many of the crew died on the expedition, and Vigi ended up a prisoner in the giant's cave. In The Lord of Undvik, Geralt finds Hjalmar near the lair, come to free Vigi, and lends him his sword.

Inside the cave, the giant lies asleep and Vigi sits locked in a cage. Hjalmar suggests leaving him there. If Geralt finds the key and frees him, Vigi lives up to his name. He wakes the sleeping giant with a hearty kick. Afterwards he fights bravely and well against the monster. If Geralt leaves him in the cage, the giant kills him during the battle.

If Geralt asks Hjalmar for help against the Wild Hunt, Vigi comes along to Kaer Morhen in The Battle of Kaer Morhen. Once again he fights with skill and courage. This time he falls in battle. The news of his heroic death reaches Skellige. In the ballads, he finally earns the name that escaped him in life: Vigi the Unfearing.

Relationships

Hjalmar an Craite is his captain, and Vigi is the one who drew him into the hunt for the Ice Giant. Geralt fights beside him twice.
