Kaukaz is a Soviet maker of heavy trucks and working machines. Its vehicles belong to the Heavy Duty class, the big trucks and military machines of Night City. Kaukaz sells cheap, tough trucks to buyers all over the world. Its in-game texts poke fun at Soviet slogans while praising Soviet engineering. In Night City, Kaukaz trucks do the heavy hauling.
History
The in-game Database is frank about what the Soviets build. It says they make no world-class supercars, luxury sedans or cosy family cars. Their military-grade vehicles, on the other hand, are second to none. The Kaukaz Bratsk is the example. This giant of Soviet engineering carries an enormous engine. Despite its size, it drives smoothly in almost any conditions, even with a tank in tow. The drawbacks are plain. It barely fits on city roads, and it smokes like a tyre fire.
The Zeya is the everyday truck of the range. The Database calls it a true hero of socialist labour. It has a robust engine, a load capacity of three tons and a light price, and buyers all over the world seek it out. The entry jokes that long freight trips in a Zeya leave the driver pondering the best way to share out goods in a planned economy. It ends with a cheer for the Party. The truck's short description adds that the magazine "Stakhanovite" named it Car of the Year five times in a row, with 101 percent of the popular vote.
Kaukaz builds more than trucks. The 271 Aras is a Kaukaz cleaning drone that works in Night City too.
Vehicles
Kaukaz builds heavy vehicles for work. The Bratsk U4020 is a huge all-wheel-drive truck made to pull heavy loads, even a tank. The Zeya U420 is a smaller rear-wheel-drive utility truck that carries cargo on long freight runs. Both are working trucks, built for loads rather than for speed.
Notes
- Kaukaz trucks share the Heavy Duty class with the armoured vehicles of Militech.
- The Soviet jokes in the Kaukaz texts reflect a world where the Soviet Union and its Communist Party still stand.
