Militech
Class Manufacturer

Militech International Armaments is an American megacorporation and one of the largest arms makers in the world. It builds firearms, drones, cyberware and armoured vehicles for land, air and sea, and it runs private military forces for hire. Militech works hand in hand with the government of the New United States, and its former CEO, Rosalind Myers, is now the country's president. It is the great rival of Arasaka. In Night City its vehicles are machines of war, from armoured trucks and tanks to the Hellhound, the most expensive vehicle V can buy.

History

Militech supplies weapons, vehicles and gear to armies, governments and corporations around the globe. It sells to almost any client and runs defence, peacekeeping and nation-building missions through its own private military contractors. In the New United States its role runs deeper. Militech supplies the federal government with both arms and soldiers. Critics accuse it of chasing a monopoly, and the close ties between President Myers and the Militech board feed those fears.

The rivalry with Arasaka shapes the history of Night City. During the Fourth Corporate War, Militech sent a strike team into Arasaka Tower in Night City. Johnny Silverhand rode with that team. A small nuclear bomb went off inside the tower, and the blast destroyed it along with much of the city around it. After the war, the remains of the United States government nationalised Militech. Today it again stands among the largest and most powerful corporations in the world.

Militech is also part of V's story from the start. In the main job The Pickup, Militech agent Meredith Stout asks V for help after the Maelstrom gang steals a Militech Flathead bot from a convoy. In Phantom Liberty, old Militech data hides in terminals across Dogtown, and V can download it to unlock Relic perks.

The Militech name turns up inside other makers' cars too. Villefort built the reinforced body of its Cortes together with Militech. The NCPD's Chevillon Emperor Ironclad carries Militech combat technology. Nomads fit Militech combat accessories to their Thorton Galena "Gecko".

Vehicles

The Database admits that Militech is rarely anyone's first or second choice as a carmaker, then adds that its armoured vehicles have no equal. The Hellhound shows why. It is a six-wheeled armoured SUV packed with the corporation's latest technology. Side-sliding doors make getting in and out feel like boarding an AV. The armoured chassis spreads the blast of a mine, and the tyres are airless. Its windows are bulletproof plates with screens inside, using CrystalDome technology, so enemies cannot see how many people ride inside. Two machine guns fire from the nose, and a missile pod sits on the roof. The Hellhound costs €$ 150,000 on the Autofixer netpage once enough vehicle contracts for El Capitan are done. Autofixer discount shards can cut that price down to nothing.

The Behemoth is Militech's armoured transport. The Database says it is so massive it should have its own zip code. It carries a platoon or even a tank through shelling, and its windshield withstands heavy machine gun fire. Only governments and licensed corporations may buy one. Militech also builds the Basilisk tank, the Manticore armoured AV and the Griffin and Wyvern combat drones.
