Ring of Benevolence is a ring that every vocation can wear. It is a strong ring for melee vocations because it heals back after a heavy hit.

The same choice that earns the ring also leads to a romance scene with Wilhelmina.

A ring bearing a mysterious power that invigorates the spirit. After a large loss of Health, wearer recovers Health slowly for a limited time.

Ring of Benevolence Map Location and Quest Guide

Every Rose Has Its Thorn is a time-sensitive side quest given by Wilhelmina in the Rose Chateau Bordelrie in Vernworth. It unlocks once The Stolen Throne and An Unsettling Encounter are both complete. The evidence against Allard is due within three days. Helping Wilhelmina kill Allard is the choice that earns the Ring of Benevolence.

  1. Speak to Wilhelmina in the bordelrie until her dialogue runs out, then pass the time to the next day.
  2. Return to the top floor, where Rolf stands guard. Enter Wilhelmina's room and look through the peephole behind the painting on the right to spy on Wilhelmina and Allard.
  3. Offer Wilhelmina help to start the quest.
  4. Speak to Sven in his chambers in Vernworth Castle, just past the Castle Offices. If he offers A Veil of Gossamer Clouds first, talk to him again. He then names Ser Patrick as an ally.
  5. Visit Patrick's Estate in the southwest of Vernworth at night. Tell the guards that Sven sent the Arisen, then speak to Patrick inside and agree to his plan to lure Allard away.
  6. Wait for Allard to leave, then enter Allard's Estate nearby. Go upstairs and into the first room by the stairs.
  7. Examine the oval flower painting on the left wall to take the Murder Report.
  8. Pick up the Bribery Investigation Findings from the table in the house near Clovis's Barberie as a second piece of evidence.
  9. Visit Captain Brant at The Stardrop Inn at night to secure his help for the escape. Choose "Tell me of the Myrmecoleon" and show the Bribery Investigation Findings. Choose "Search for more evidence", talk to him again and show the Murder Report. Answer "I'll have any aid you can give".
  10. Return to Wilhelmina's room and hand over the Murder Report, with or without the bribery findings. Handing her the bribery findings alone gets her arrested.
  11. Choose "Continue offering your aid". Wilhelmina puts on a disguise and heads for Allard in the next room.
  12. Enter the room on her cue and grab Allard to hold him down. Wilhelmina reveals herself and kills him.
  13. Follow Wilhelmina out through the window and land in the hay below.
  14. Shake off the guards without killing them. Use the To me! command to keep the pawns from fighting them. Brant helps with the escape if his aid was secured.
  15. Rest, then return to Wilhelmina's chambers in the bordelrie. The romance scene plays and the quest completes.

Rewards: 1,200 XP, 8,500 G and the Ring of Benevolence.

Outcomes:

  • Help Wilhelmina kill Allard: she gives the Ring of Benevolence and a romance scene follows.
  • Refuse to help her: she kills Allard alone and is arrested. She hands over an Allheal Elixir on the spot, and her attendant brings gold and Tiger Eye a day later.
  • Warn Allard of the plot after meeting Patrick: Wilhelmina is arrested and Allard pays a smaller sum of gold.
