Dog Search finds a pet dog. The Hunter remembers Thornhold, a town once overrun by stray dogs. Scavengers have taken the town since, but one dog is still there. Tamed, it becomes Ruffles, a companion for the base.
Walkthrough
The quest step by step:
- Finish The Hunter's Hand Spindle and Reclaim The Wilderness, then speak to the Hunter.
- Craft dog food bait.
- Travel to Thornhold and deal with the Scavengers.
- Find the stray dog in the town, sneak up and throw the bait near it.
- Pet it while it eats until it trusts the player, then pick it up.
- Place the dog in the base.
- Craft and place a dog bowl and a dog bed.

Prerequisites
Two earlier quests open this one. In The Hunter's Hand Spindle, the Hunter wants back the spindle she lost near Westcott. She avoided the town and camped nearby instead, and the trail leads on through Revelwood to an abandoned hunter's camp. In Reclaim The Wilderness, the Farmer asks for the climb up the Revelwood Ancient Spire. After both, the Hunter remembers a town once overrun by stray dogs, Thornhold.
