Griffin Boots are the basic tier of the Griffin School boots, medium witcher gear. They give 31 armor and +5% sign intensity at level 11. Their diagram lies next to George's tomb in Dragonslayer's Grotto in Velen. They are early-game boots.

They also give +1% piercing, +1% bludgeoning, +2% slashing and +2% monster resistance. The sign intensity suits a signs build, the role the Griffin set leans toward.

Set Bonus

The Griffin set is medium armor. It has five tiers: Basic at level 11, Enhanced at 18, Superior at 26, Mastercrafted at 34 and Grandmaster at 40. The 3-piece and 6-piece bonuses come from Grandmaster pieces worn as a school set. 3 pieces: after Geralt casts a sign in standard mode with stamina, the next sign cast within 3 seconds costs no stamina. 6 pieces: Yrden traps are 40% larger, and inside the trap stamina regeneration rises by 5 per second, sign intensity by 100% and damage taken drops by 20%.

How to Get Griffin Boots

  • Start Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear.
  • Go to the end of Dragonslayer's Grotto, past the wraiths and an ekimmara.
  • Take the diagrams for the armor, gauntlets, trousers and boots next to George's tomb.
  • Have an armorer craft them.

Griffin Boots Map Location and Quest Guide

The Griffin Boots diagram lies in a chest next to George's tomb at the end of Dragonslayer's Grotto in Velen, the resting place of the witcher George of Kagen. The pin marks the grotto, a stop of Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear.

  1. Start Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear by finding any of its diagrams, or by buying Edwin Greloff's First Map or Second Map from the armorer in Midcopse.
  2. Go to Dragonslayer's Grotto and drop down into the entrance area.
  3. Head inside, kill the wraiths and make your way down the hall.
  4. Blast the weak wall with Aard. Clear the toxic gas clouds with Igni or Aard and kill the wraiths in the tunnel beyond.
  5. At the end of the tunnel, blast the rocks with Aard and kill the ekimmara behind them.
  6. Loot the chest with the glowing lights for the Griffin Boots diagram. The other three armor diagrams of the set and Witcher George's Journal are inside too.

Map credit by Map Genie.

Notes

  • In NG+ the diagram makes Legendary Griffin Boots instead. They need level 11 plus the NG+ starting level and give 33 armor at level 12 (+2 per level), with +11% sign intensity.
