Resistances
Resistances are percentage bonuses on armor that cut damage of one type. Armor pieces also carry resistances to status effects such as Bleeding. Armor has a separate Armor rating, and higher armor subtracts more damage before it reaches Vitality.
Resistance Types
Armor lists its resistances by damage type:
- Resistance to slashing damage
- Resistance to piercing damage
- Resistance to bludgeoning damage
- Resistance to damage from monsters
- Resistance to elemental damage
- Status resistances, such as Resistance to Bleeding
Gear With Resistances
| Item | Image | Resistance |
|---|---|---|
| Angrenian Cuirass | +35% slashing, +25% piercing, +25% bludgeoning | |
| Zireael Armor (Relic) | +100% Bleeding | |
| Glyph Of Binding | +3% Bleeding | |
| Glyph Of Warding | +2% elemental |
The Griffin Decoction raises Geralt's slashing, piercing, bludgeoning, monster and elemental resistance by 1% for each hit he takes, for the rest of the fight, up to a limit.
Skills
Remastered rebuilt the skill trees with three ranks per skill. Rank 1 values:
- Protective Coating: an applied oil gives +5% protection against attacks from the monster type it targets.
- Fleet-Footed: damage taken while dodging -33%.
- Debilitating Poison: poisoned targets deal 5% less damage.
- High Tolerance: at 80% Toxicity or more, Geralt takes 150% damage from enemies.
Enemy Resistances
Enemies have resistances too. Sunder Armor makes Strong Attacks lower enemy damage resistance by 10% at rank 1, stacking once. Rend ignores enemy defenses.
Before Remastered
Old Protective Coating gave +5%, +10% and +15% protection at levels 1 to 3.
