Journeyman armorer

Griffin Gauntlets are the basic tier of the Griffin School gauntlets, medium witcher armor from the base game. They give 27 armor at level 11, with +5% sign intensity. The diagram is next to George's tomb in Dragonslayer's Grotto in Velen. They come early in the game.
They also give +1% piercing, +2% slashing, +2% monster and +5% elemental resistance. The sign bonus suits a signs build. They are the first step of the Griffin upgrade chain, which ends at the Grandmaster tier.
Set Bonus
The Griffin set is medium armor. It has five tiers: Basic at level 11, Enhanced at 18, Superior at 26, Mastercrafted at 34 and Grandmaster at 40. The set bonuses come with the Grandmaster tier. 3 pieces: after a sign cast with stamina, the next sign within 3 seconds costs no stamina. 6 pieces: Yrden traps are 40% larger, and inside them stamina regen rises by 5/s, sign intensity by 100% and damage taken drops by 20%.
How to Get Griffin Gauntlets
- Start Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear in Velen.
- Go to the end of Dragonslayer's Grotto, past the wraiths and an ekimmara.
- Take the diagram next to George's tomb, with the other Griffin School armor diagrams.
- A journeyman armorer crafts them.
Griffin Gauntlets Map Location and Quest Guide
The Griffin Gauntlets diagram sits in a chest at the far end of Dragonslayer's Grotto in Velen, the final resting place of the witcher George. The pin marks the grotto, the armor stop of Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear. The same chest holds the armor, boots and trousers diagrams and Witcher George's journal.
- Buy Edwin Greloff's first or second map from the armorer in Midcopse to start Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear. Finding any of the diagrams also starts it.
- Go to Dragonslayer's Grotto, drop down into the area and enter the cave.
- Kill the wraiths and head down the main hall.
- Blast the weak wall with Aard and kill the wraith behind it.
- Clear the toxic gas clouds in the tunnel with Igni or Aard, and fight any wraiths on the way.
- Prepare for a fight, then blast the rocks at the end of the tunnel. An ekimmara waits behind them.
- Kill the ekimmara and loot the chest with the glowing lights for the Griffin Gauntlets diagram.
