Griffin Trousers are the basic tier of the Griffin School trousers, medium witcher armor from the base game. They give 31 armor at level 11, with +5% sign intensity. The diagram lies next to George's tomb in Dragonslayer's Grotto in Velen. They are early-game trousers.
They also give +2% piercing, +5% slashing, +5% monster and +17% elemental resistance. The sign intensity suits a signs build. They are the first step of the Griffin upgrade chain, which ends at the Grandmaster tier.
Set Bonus
The Griffin set is medium armor. It has five tiers: Basic at level 11, Enhanced at 18, Superior at 26, Mastercrafted at 34 and Grandmaster at 40. 3 pieces: after a sign cast in standard mode with stamina, the next sign cast within 3 seconds costs no stamina. 6 pieces: Yrden traps are 40% larger, and inside the trap stamina regeneration rises by 5/s, sign intensity by 100% and damage taken drops by 20%. These bonuses come from Grandmaster pieces worn as a set.
How to Get Griffin Trousers
- Start Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear in Velen.
- Go to the end of Dragonslayer's Grotto, past the wraiths and an ekimmara.
- Take the diagram next to George's tomb, with the other armor diagrams.
- A journeyman armorer crafts them.
Griffin Trousers Map Location and Quest Guide
The Griffin Trousers diagram lies in a chest next to George's tomb at the end of Dragonslayer's Grotto in Velen, the resting place of the witcher George of Kagen. The pin marks the grotto, a stop of Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear.
- Start Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear by finding any of its diagrams, or by buying Edwin Greloff's First Map or Second Map from the armorer in Midcopse.
- Go to Dragonslayer's Grotto and drop down into the entrance area.
- Head inside, kill the wraiths and work down the hall.
- Blast the weak wall with Aard. Clear the toxic gas clouds with Igni or Aard and kill the wraiths in the tunnel beyond.
- At the end of the tunnel, blast the rocks with Aard and kill the ekimmara behind them.
- Loot the chest with the glowing lights for the Griffin Trousers diagram. The other three armor diagrams of the set and Witcher George's Journal are inside too.
